To get to Protocol Handlers,

With Gmail open, look for and select the handler icon in the URL bar:

Select Allow and Done

To confirm your Gmail handler: pen Settings in Chrome

1. Navigate to Privacy and Security
2. Open Site Settings
3. After Background Sync, expand additional permissions
4. Select protocol handlers

You should see Gmail set as the default
